Handcuffs or Honor?

Which would you choose?

Playing “The Long Game” is more than exchanging pieces on the board. Sometimes we must be willing to die for the overarching victory.

There’s a scene in this movie where a moral dilemma comes up for an old retired marine. During his time as a superior officer he was faced with a choice to stand by his convictions in “sending the boys over the hill to certain death.” On one hand he could follow orders, recieve all the medals and accoloades or ignore orders, face a court Marshall and his men would still be sent over the hill.

A choice most of us would agree “isn’t much of a choice” yet still is a choice.

In his words the character explains that, “not a day goes by that I wish I had left that meeting in handcuffs.”

When fighting injustice as a Christian we must overcome this conundrum of “handcuffs or honor” because it’s a lie.

It’s sublte but it comes to us in the redefining of the word honor. It’s a worldly honor. Full of insatiable money, fame, power, and dare I say self idolization at the expense of our obedience to God.

I want to get back to a Biblical definition of honor. Honor that we as a society have forgotten about as we have reduced this to celebrating the latest greatest virtue signal. Real honor doesn’t come without sacrifice, and the last I checked there isn’t any sacrifice when posting about the latest woke ideology on a social media account.

Here’s the solution

As a Christian at the core of our beliefs is the promises of Christ. Promises of salvation and glory sealed by grace through faith apart from works. It is in this very seal that the fear of death is suffocated and ought to be removed as the believers gain would be death itself.

Through this weapon of divine immunity the Christian is the only one truly able to stand for a moral principle with justification with honor while also keeping their sanity.

We may sacrifice our physical lives for the truth but we gain much greater glory by no actions of our own.

So, I’ll ask again.

Handcuffs….or honor?
